Gospels-People and Places

1. Multiple choice: About whom did Jesus say, "You are an offense to me, for you are not mindful of the things of God"? (a) Peter; (b) Judas; or (c) John the Baptist.

2. When Herod the trarch had a birthday, he gave a gift to his wife's daughter. What was it ?
(a) The head of John the Baptist; (b) one-half of his kingdom; or (c) the city of Tiberias.

3. Who first identified Jesus in this way: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God"? (a) Thomas; (b) Mary Magdalene; or (c) Peter.

1. (a) Peter (Matt. 16:23).

2. (a) the head of John the Baptist (Matt. 14:3-11). Herod offered the daughter of Herodias anything up to half of his kingdom, and Herodias pressured her into asking for John's head (v.8).

3. (c) Peter (Mat.16:16). This confession was a turning point in the ministry of Jesus  to His disciples. After this identification of His person, Jesus began to teach about His purpose of dying for sins (16:21-23;20:18, 19).
