Poetry---Memory

1. Fill in the blanks: The book of Ecclesiastes begins this way, "The words
of the -------- , the son of David , king in -------."

2. Sentence completion: One of the key thoughts of Ecclesiastes is contained in this verse, " "----- Vanity of vanities," says the Preacher----"

3. Fill in the blanks: In Ecclesiastes, Solomon wrote of the futility of work in this way: "What is ------- cannot be made straight, And what is lacking cannot be --------."

1. Preacher---Jerusalem (Eccl. 1:1 )

2. "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity' (Eccl. 1 : 2 )
The term "vanity" stresses the emptiness or lack of substance to those things which men tend to believe are important.

3. Crooked---numbered (Eccl. 1: 15 )
Sin has introduced disorder into the world, and no amount of human effort can make the world orderly again.
