Familiar Phrases

1. Fill in the blanks: The most famous line from Habakkuk reads, "But the  -------- shall live by his

2. Sentence completion: Habakkuk echoed Isaiah when he wrote, "For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord....

3. Habakkuk said, But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let......"




1. "Just...faith" (Hab. 2:4). Paul quoted this statement in Romans 1:17 to bolster his point that the gospel was powerful to awaken faith and in Galatians 3:11 to illustrate the superiority of faith over law as an adequate basis for achieving justification before God.
 
 
2. "As the waters cover the sea" (Hab. 2:14; Is. 11:9).
 
 
3. "All the earth keep silence before Him" (Hab. 2:20). Habakkuk was here contrasting the living God
with lifeless, man made images and idols ( vv. 18, 19).
