Gospels---People and Places

1. Multiple choice: Whom did God send into the world to save it? (a) Elijah; (b) His Son; or His angels.

2. What did Jesus ask from the woman at Jacob's well? (a) Directions to Galilee; (b) a drank of water for Himself; or (c) food for His Disciples.

3. Fill in the blanks: Jesus ' speaking to the woman at Jacob's well was unusual because of the contempt His race held for hers. He was a --------, and she was a --------.

1. (b) His Son (John 3:17).

2. (b) A drink of water for Himself (John 4:7). In this way, Jesus both established  contact with the woman and raised the subject  of thirst which He would use as a metaphor for spiritual need.

3. Jew...Samaritan (John 4:9). This animosity dated back more than four centuries when the Samaritans opposed the Jewish reconstruction of Jerusalem under Nehemiah.
