Enemy Activity

We pick up the passage where the Jews encounter opposition

to the rebuilding of the walls.

But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the

Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that 

the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began

to be stopped, then they were very wroth (Neh. 4:7).

Four enemies of Jerusalem are mentioned: Sanballat, who is the 

leader of the Samaritans, enemies of Judah to the north; Tobiah and

the Arabians,enemies to the east; the Ammonites, enemies to the northeast;

and the Ashdodites, the surviving Philistines at this time in history, enemies

to the south.

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."

Matthew 5:9

Dear Lord, help me today and every day to be a peacemaker for those around

me. Help me to do good, to seek peace and pursue it.
