Pride and arrogance are the forerunners of self-destruction.

Friendship will survive conflict. In fact,friendship makes conflict endurable.

Primarily, Solomon had in mind that a true friend, who is a rare creature, will be more loyal then anyone else, but Christians have rightly concluded that Jesus is the closest Friend and have applied this passage to Him.
