This psalm was one of the basic texts used by Peter to prove that Jesus was the Messiah when he preached on the Day of Pentecost.

Sentence completion: After God confronted Job for speaking rashly, Job was humbled and said, "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, And----"


" Repent in dust and ashes" (Job 42 : 5, 6 )


Job's friends had wanted him to repent of some prior sin of commission, but God wanted him to repent of a present attitudinal sin. Argument did not accomplish what a glimpse of God did.

Leviathan was a large, unknown creature. He is often thought to have been the crocodile, treated poetically with exaggeration for effect in Job.
