1. Fill in the blanks: Ten spies who went into Canaan recommend

to Moses that they not try to possess the land. They compared the Canaanites to

This report persuaded the Israelites to refuse to enter the land of Canaan at this time
and condemned them to wander in the wilderness for forty years. (14:33).

The other ten spies recommended that Israel not attack the Canaanites.
The minority report of Caleb and Joshua was not heeded by Israel.
