Postcanon

The Postcanon Period: from 96 A.D.; with the death of the Apostle
John, to the present. The Age of the Church will terminate with the
Rapture or resurrection of the Church. The way of life for Church
Age believers and the doctrines pertinent to this period are found in
New Testament Epistles-- Romans through Revelation, Chapter 3.
A picture of the Church in heaven is described in Revelation, Chapters
4 and 5.

" The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied"
Proverbs 19:23

Thank you, Lord, for the privilege of communion with You.

Precanon

The Precanon Period:
from the day of Pentcost (about 33 A.D. to 96 A.D. )
the NewTestament was in the process of being written, but was not complete.
The Book of Acts does not present the doctrines of the Church, but gives the
historical development of the precanon period of the Church Age. It  declares,
historically, how this segment differed from the postcanon period. For  example,
precanon  activity was charcterized by such temporary spiritual gifts as apostleship,
healing, tongues, miracles, etc. These gifts no longer exist, and today we have no
bona fide apostles, healers, or people speaking in tongues.

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled."
Matthew 5:6

Help us Lord, to carefully bear the fruit of the Spirit. Help us to be the very
essence of goodness.

Covenant Three And Four

The Davidic Covenant
(2 Sam. 7:8--16; 22:51)
perpetuates the Davidic dynasty through the eternal reign
of Christ (Luke 1:32; Acts 2:29;30).

The New Covenant to Israel confirms the future of Israel
in spite of the administration of the fifth cycle of discipline
to both Northern and Southern Kingdoms, and relates the
future of Israel to the First Advent and strategic victory of
Christ which includes the Cross, resurrection, ascension and
session.

"When I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me."
Micah 7:8

Thank You , dear Lord for Your precious light. Keep my vision clear,
that I may only travel on Your lighted pathway.

God's Promises to Israel

Covenant Two

The Palestinian Covenant (13:14,15) promises the Jews a specified
territory in the Middle East and secures the final restoration of Israel
in this land after the Second Advent of Jesus  Christ
(Isa. 11:11,12).

"Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy;
at thy right hand there are pleasures for ever more."
Psalm 16:11

O God of love and forgiveness, so fill my heart with the spirit of Jesus
that I will be quick to return love for evil.

Covenants

The Four Unconditional Covenants:
An everlasting treaty into which God entered with Abraham
and his born-again progeny (Gen.17:7). The treaty consists
of four separate paragraphs and guarantees the Jews a future,
a purpose and a title deed to a land of their own. Unconditional
in nature, the treaty depends solely upon the character of God.

1. The Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 12:1-3) establishes the Jewish
race and the future nation Israel and anathematizes anti-Semitism
(Gen.13:14:-17;15:1-7, 18; 17:1-8).

"Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty
things which thou knowest not."
Jeremiah 33:3

God, help us to live one day at a time and enjoy each gift that You have
given us. Help us to be glad and rejoice in each new day.

Do Not Reject Biblical Principles

Times

We did the First ,Second and Third Cycle of Discipline

The Fourth Cycle of Discipline:  military conquest and /or foreign occupation;
scarcity of food (reduced to one-tenth of the normal supply); the  breaking
up of families (Lev. 26:27-39).

Fifth Cycle of Discipline: destruction of a nation due to maximum rejection
of Biblical principles ( Lev. 26:27-39).

These are Times as it relates to the history of Israel.
(History does repeat it's self)

"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted."
Matthew 5:4

Thank you, God, for the many times you have come to our rescue.
Help us to trust you when dark times come.

God's Cycles Of Discipline

"Times"

First Cycle of Discipline:
loss of health, decline of agricultural prosperity, terror, fear
and death in combat, loss of personal freedoms due to negative
volition toward Bible doctrine (Lev. 26:14-17)

Second Cycle of Discipline:
economic recession and depression; increased personal and
individual discipline for continued negative attitude in spite
of the first warning (Lev. 26:18-20)

Third Cycle of Discipline:
Violence and breakdown of law and order; cities broken up
(Lev. 26:21,22).

There are two more, which of the three do you think
we may be in?
So goes the nation so we go.
But God said to his children He would never leave us or forsake us.

" I will give unto him that is arthirst of the fountain of  the water of life freely"
Revelation 21:6

Heavenly Father, fill me with thy joy so that there will be a constant
overflow to attract others to Thyself.

Get With The Pauline Epistles

We continue with Peter---

As  also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some
things hard to be understood  (even for Peter twenty-five years later), which they
that are unlearned  and unstable twist, as they do also the other scriptures, unto
their own destruction (2 Peter 3:16).

What does this say? Peter, along with the others, asked the Lord a question in
Acts 1:7. The Lord knew it was futile to  answer then because the disciples did
not have sufficient doctrine to comprehend the answer. Years later the dying
words of a spiritually mature Peter were: "Get with the Pauline epistles. There
are some hard things there, but that is the answer!"

" The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth
such as be of  a contrite spirit."
Psalm 34:18

Father, thank you for Your presence.

The Lord is Salvation

Peter had been one of those who asked Jesus  about the
"times and the seasons" in Acts 1:7. Peter later learned
from Paul, as did  everyone else, and in 2 Peter, Chapter
3, he wrote  a very interesting commentary:

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things,
be diligent  that ye  may be  found of him in peace,
without spot, and blameless (2 Pet. 3:14).

And account that the longsuffering of  our Lord is salvation;
even as our beloved brother  Paul  also according to the wisdom
given unto him hath written unto you (2 Pet 3:15).

"He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of
them that diligently seek Him."
Hebrews 11:6

Dear Lord, I bow before You in stillness and feel You very near. Here are my
problems. Help me to find Your way for me.
In Christ name I pray

A God Appointed Apostle

Did you know that a false apostle (Matthias) was elected to take
the place of Judas (Acts 1:21-26)-- false  in the sense that he was
not God's choice. Second, Saul of Tarsus, who  became Paul,
was appointed the twelfth apostle by Jesus Christ. Third, Paul
went to Thessalonica and taught. Even though the disciples originally
had little ability to understand the dispensational aspect of the restoration
of the kingdom to Israel, Paul  had amassed such a fantastic amount of
doctrine that he was able to answer the question as he began his teaching
ministry.

From study of Dispensations By R.B. Thieme, Jr

" In the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion:
in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me."
Psalm 27:5

Our Father, when familiar surroundings fade, strengthen my wings of faith.
Help me to accept the need to grow and mature.

He Is Coming

Paul (Not even converted  at the time of the question), would
provide  this information, not only for the disciples, but to the
entire Church down through the years. Paul answered this question
as he taught the  Thessalonians already understood:

But of the times and the seasons, brethren (Thessalonian
believers), ye  have no need that I write unto you. For
yourselves  know perfectly  that  the day of the Lord so
cometh as a thief in the night ( 1 Thess. 5:1,2)

" For with God nothing shall be impossible."
Luke 1:37

Lord, help us to speak to others in a way that help them see you.
In Christ name I pray

God's Power

The first chapter of the Book of Acts introduces the subject of Dispensations
through the use of two specific words.

Times and Seasons

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord
wilt thou at this time restore again the  kingdom of Israel?

Acts 1:6

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times and seasons,
which the Father hath put in his own power.
Acts 1:7

"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth."
Matthew 5:5

Lord, keep me meek, so that the love of Christ will shine
through me to others.

God's Time

Time as we know it is but a segment of eternity, taken out of eternity and
set aside for man's use. God has divided time into segments and His Word calls them Dispensations. An understanding of these divisions of time is the key which unlocks Biblical truth. Without this
reference system it is impossible for any Christian to understand how various portions of the Bible
apply to his life.

By R.B. Thieme, Jr
"The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed. A refuge in time of trouble."
Psalm 9:9

Thank you, God, for your protecting love. Make us able to face those times
when we must suffer.

The Day Of The Lord

"Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace.
All the arrogant  and every evildoer will be stubble,
and that day that is coming will set them on fire,''
says the Lord Almighty. '' Not a root or a branch
will be left to them.

Malachi 4:1

"But unto you that fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings.''
Malachi 4: 2

Lord, help me to overcome my fears by filling my mine with
positive thoughts and my life with positive actions.
In Christ name I pray
